Fish Stocking

A well stocked pond can provide many recreational opportunities for your family. The Ontario County SWCD fish stocking program provides suitable species at a reasonable cost. Residents with ponds may purchase certified disease free fish to place in their ponds.

The 2024 Spring Fish Sale Order Forms are due by noon on Thursday, May 16, 2024. Fish must be picked up at 3:00pm on Thursday, May 23, 2024. Be sure to bring a container of pond water to transport your fish.

 This year, we are offering fathead minnows, largemouth bass, bluegills, and triploid grass carp. DEC permits are required for fish stocking in private ponds. Permits are free and application information can be found at https://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/25013.html. Triploid grass carp require an additional DEC permit and information about that can be found at https://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/25024.html.
